July 23, 2019 – After a successful debut in 2018, it’s an all new year for The Borderlands Film Festival, continuing as the Borderscene Film Festival in the Fall of 2019. The mission of the Borderscene Film Festival continues to be the integration of excellence in independent film with resources and connections within the film industry. This year’s event will take place September 6 – 9, 2019 at the Allen Theatres’ Cineport 10 and Video 4 in Las Cruces. The theme will be Overcoming Challenges. With 450 films submitted from 48 countries, we have selected the top 15% for viewing during our 2019 event.
The Borderscene Film Festival will take place from September 4 – 9, 2019 (Online viewing). Our opening night film takes place on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Allen Theatres, Cineport 10. “Las Cruces, New Mexico is one of the most picturesque cities in the nation. Every day when I step outside, I feel as if I am stepping into the scene of a movie. As we were searching for a new name to create stronger branding opportunities for our film festival, the name BORDERSCENE was mentioned and it resonated with us all,” says Dave Witt, CEO. “I think we all know the value of our town and just how lucky we are to have Las Cruces as the home for this event. With gorgeous sunsets, amazing views, and unique backgrounds, Las Cruces is a living Borderscene. We are honored to call ourselves the Borderscene Film Festival and we are excited to provide another high-quality film event to this city. Come be seen at the Borderscene!”
Brought to you by a creative team of directors with years of film festival running experience, The Borderscene Film Festival champions great independent filmmakers and provides opportunities for film professionals at every level to participate, learn, network and even get their films distributed! To fulfill this year’s theme, the Borderscene Film Festival will have dedicated programming and workshops celebrating filmmakers who have overcome great challenges in order to get their film completed.
So that Borderscene Film Festival maximizes the exposure an independent filmmaker receives, this year we will have online access to those who enjoy independent films but cannot attend the festival in person. Online passes may be purchased on our website for $15.00 plus fees. The six-day online access begins Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 9:00am and wraps up on Monday, September 9, 2019 by 6:00PM. Movie passes valid from September 7 – 9, 2019 include, a single movie and/or block pass for $2.50, a single day movie pass for $7.50, a three-day movie pass for $15.00, and finally an All Access (VIP) $50.00 pass good for all movies and parties, including the opening night film on September 6, 2019.
We will continue to salute our United States Military at the festival by presenting a US Military film category and award. This year’s award winner in the US Military film category will receive recognition and distribution through our esteemed festival partner, VetFlicks. With an expanding population of over 65 million active duty, veteran service members and dependents, VetFlicks was established to produce and distribute high quality content that highlights military service, courage and honor. VetFlicks will also honor the perspectives of filmmakers whose life experiences have included service to their country or communities.
