Las Cruces took the next step on Tuesday in becoming a major film production center in
New Mexico, with the groundbreaking of a new film studio. Located on the Creative
Campus next to the new state-of-the-art Doña Ana Community College film and digital
media training studio, the studio will provide film productions industry standard
soundstage and studio space for all size film productions.

The studio, a public private partnership between the New Mexico Economic
Development Department, and Arrowhead Park at New Mexico State University, will
feature a 20,000 square foot soundstage, construction mill, office space, and ancillary
storage and gear space. It was funded by the New Mexico legislature as a part of the
Media Arts Collective. The studio will be managed by a film production company, and
available for rent as a commercial film studio.

“This is a game-changer for Las Cruces and Southern New Mexico” said Film Las
Cruces President and State Senator Jeff Steinborn. “While we’re already known as one
of the hottest film destinations in the country, this new studio will help take us to the next
level. Now we’ll be able to attract the biggest productions and episodic series, creating
jobs, fueling our economy, and showcasing our incredible region to the world. We’ve
dreamed of this day for years—and today, that dream has become reality.”

For the 3 rd year in a row, Las Cruces was named in 2025 by MovieMaker Magazine as
one of the top ten towns in America to live and work as a film maker.

“The new film studio at Arrowhead Park will be a homerun for students, NMSU, DACC,
and the film industry,” said Las Cruces Film Liaison Andrew Jara. “By being located next
door to the new state of the DACC film soundstage and digital media training facility, the
new studio will enable incoming film productions access to additional soundstage
space, studio assets, and talented up and coming film crew.”
